LOEWE began as a cooperative of leather artisans in the centre of Madrid in 1846. It is one of the world’s oldest major luxury houses. By 1910, Loewe had acquired a reputation as the most luxurious leather goods supplier in the city and began expansion over the Spanish territory. In 1934 Enrique Loewe Knappe took over the company and there followed a succession of store openings and expansions.

Terpsichore by ELK is a platinum and gold plated model. Platinum detail is present on temporal sides. The brand name is present on the sides and the temple tips are made of black mottled acetate. 

Enrique Loewe Knappe glasses and sunglasses we manufactured for a one-time only collection so each piece is extremely rare and has its own unique numerical identifier. The frames are 22kt gold plated.

These sunglasses frames were created by Enrique Loewe Knappe to be an objet d’art. They have been manufactured using exquisite and refined materials fashioned by the best and most prestigious craftsmen in the industry. Being produced in a limited series the frame has been individually numbered as a guarantee of its exclusiveness.

The frames contain quality features which combine the leading edge of technology and craftsmanship. Automatic processes are only used where necessary in order to order precision measurement. A complex process using precious metal coatings, such palladium, platinum and 22kt gold plated in strategic coats of differing thicknesses achieve a high gold plate (HGP) Turing these frames into a jewel.

By the end of the 60’s Loewe was beginning to expand internationally. Fans of the brand included Ava Gardner, Rita Hayworth, Sophia Loren and Ernest Hemingway.
