Opium Perfume by Yves Saint Laurent, Classy and sophisticated, Opium is one of the most famous Oriental perfumes in history. Sensual and aromatic, this fragrance has a vibrant, complex scent profile. Top notes include a mix of spices and fruit dominated by clove, bergamot, coriander and plum. A sensual heart accord includes sandalwood, patchouli, peach and rose. These accords are rounded out by a long-lasting base featuring luscious sandalwood, vanilla, amber and cedar. Launched in 1977, this eau de toilette spray comes packaged in a flacon reminiscent of the setting sun with orange and gold accents.
Yves Saint Laurent is the eponymous French fashion house named for its founder and chief designer. Founded in 1961, the brand’s first fragrance launched in 1964. To date, the company has a fragrance offering of more than 191 perfumes. This classic scent was created by a master perfumer dream team of Raymond Chaillan, Jean Amic and Jean-Louis Sieuzac. Chaillan has created scents for Givenchy and Balenciaga while Sieuzac has worked with Christian Dior and Oscar de la Renta. Amic went on to create four additional fragrances for the brand.
